You have reached the web site of the Wellington Combined Society of Bell Ringers (WCSB).
Members of the Society take part in full circle english change ringing
at Wellington Cathedral (12+2), Old St Paul's (5) and on The John David Mini Ring (8).
There is a further ring of bells at St Peter's (8):
they are hung for full circle ringing but can only be chimed. St Peter's is not part of the WCSB.
More details about each of the rings mentioned are provided on the Towers page.
You can see information about our current ringers by following The Ringers link.
Visiting ringers are welcome to the Cathedral for Sunday service ringing (9.00-10am) and for Tuesday night practice (7.30pm to 9.00pm).
Sunday evening ringing (4-5pm) is normally a quarter peal attempt. If you would like to be included in a quarter, please contact us well in advance of your visit, indicating what
methods you ring.
Please see the
Visiting Ringers page for more information. There is no regular practice at Old St Paul's, but we try to give visitors the opportunity to ring
there after Sunday morning ringing at the Cathedral. We will also try to give visitors an opportunity to ring on The John David Mini Ring.
Wellington ringers have several sets of handbells available for their use, some of which are of historical significance. We have several keen handbell ringers.
They would be happy to ring with visiting handbell ringers.
The sets are described on the Handbells page.
We hold a Ringing Festival in Wellington each Labour Weekend (late October). Details can be found on the Ringing Festival page.
You can find information about peals and quarter peals rung for ANZAB through the ANZAB page.
If you would like to learn to ring either tower bells, handbells or both, please get in touch with one of the Cathedral contacts.
You will be very welcome.
